Cambridge: King's College Chapel
Wide is the vista from clare Bridge, Full of colour and sound; Lively rows of punts steer past, Blue water laps the banks, around
Leftward stands King's College out. The work of monarchs four. Buttress on buttres with pointed spires, in fine array they skyward soar!
Within the chapel, though, pillar - work, Far surpassing window and wall, Sketches up, and, arched wonder, Circle on circle of fan - vaults, tall.
Pillars and fan - vaults, alternately, draw us into the mystic spell of their secret, which is manifest, But which no - one can truly tell.
